The Key Issues

Each election year, there is always one issue or another, whether it be political or social, that dominates the election. In 2004 the key issue was national security and terrorism, 2000: society's moral decay, and so on. What will it be in 2008? Obviously the war in Iraq will be a major issue, but what else? Abortion? Gay marriage? National debt?

The one single issue that I forecast will reign above all else will be National debt. As of the end of 2006, the U.S.'s national public debt was at around $4.9 trillion. Let me say that again: $4.9 trillion. Much of that debt can be attributed to the Bush administration's War in Iraq. The focus of debate between cadidates in 2008 will be how to lower the debt. Should taxes be raised? Should taxes be lowered? I'm sure that each candidate will come out with different plans, and trust you me, I'll be sure to tear each plan apart as it is made public.
